How do I switch between dark and light mode in Shorter Loop?

Shorter Loop ships a full dark theme alongside the light one, plus a System mode that follows your operating system.

How do I switch theme?

Click your avatar in the top-right corner. The menu has a THEME section with three choices.

Light	Always light, regardless of your OS
Dark	Always dark, regardless of your OS
System	Follows your operating system's appearance setting, and changes live when the OS does

A ✓ marks the active option. The change applies instantly — no reload needed.

Charts are theme-aware: axis labels, gridlines, and fills are recalculated when you switch, so a graph stays readable in both themes.

How does System mode work?

Pick System and Shorter Loop reads your OS appearance setting:

macOS — System Settings → Appearance

Windows — Settings → Personalization → Colors

iOS / Android — Display settings

If your OS is set to switch automatically at sunset, Shorter Loop follows along while the tab is open — you don't need to reload.

This is also the default for a brand-new account: until you pick Light or Dark explicitly, Shorter Loop follows your OS.

Where is my theme choice stored?

Your preference is saved in your browser's local storage under theme-preference.

The theme is applied before the app finishes booting, so you won't see a white flash when loading the app in dark mode.

It cycles Light → Dark → System → Light, and writes to the same preference the signed-in menu uses, so whatever you pick here carries into the app after you sign in.

Why isn't my theme behaving?
