How do I add an objective lane to a roadmap?

There are two routes, and they do different things.

Route 1 — place an objective you already have

Drag the objective out of the backlog panel’s Strategy tab and drop it into a
time box. It becomes a lane, keeping its key, progress and history.

An objective dropped into a cell becomes a lane

This is the normal route: the roadmap is projecting strategy you have already
agreed.

Route 2 — create a new objective from the board

Click + Add objective inside a band, give it a name, optionally a colour, and
click Add.

This genuinely creates a new objective — it appears on your strategy board
with its own key (OBJ-4) — and places it on this roadmap in one step, inside
the band you used and in the first time box.

Note: creating a roadmap never invents artifacts, but this button does.
Use it when a real objective is missing; use Route 1 when it already exists.

Lane ⋯ → Remove. The objective survives, and its items stay on the roadmap

Why is there no “+ Add objective” on the organization roadmap?

There is — inside each theme band — but only while you are scoped to a single
product. The all-products roll-up is read-only.
