Delete and Automatic Reparenting
How deletion works#
When you delete an item from the strategy map, two things happen:1.
The item itself is moved to Trash (soft delete -- can be restored).
2.
Its children are reparented to the deleted item's parent.
Example#
Objective (OBJ-1)
└── Opportunity (OPP-5)
├── Solution (SOL-8)
└── Solution (SOL-9)
└── Experiment (EXP-12)
Objective (OBJ-1)
├── Solution (SOL-8)
└── Solution (SOL-9)
└── Experiment (EXP-12)
Solutions and the experiment are now direct children of the Objective. No data is lost.Deep reparenting#
The reparent works at all depths. If you delete a Solution that has Experiments underneath, those Experiments connect to the Solution's parent (Opportunity or Objective). The entire ancestor chain is updated on all descendants -- not just direct children, but grandchildren and beyond. What about linked work items?#
When deleting a Solution, any linked Epics and Features have their solutionId cleared (set to 0). They become independent backlog items but are not deleted.Modified at 2026-04-10 11:15:35
