How do I put work on the roadmap?

You drag it out of the backlog panel and drop it into a cell. There is no form
and no dialog — the drop is the scheduling action.

Steps

Open the backlog panel with the checklist icon in the header. The number on
the icon is how many items are still unplaced.

Choose the tab that holds what you want:

Work items — epics and features

Strategy — objectives, opportunities and solutions

Drag the row onto the cell where it belongs — the intersection of an
objective lane and a time box.

The item disappears from the pool, because it is now placed.

Drop an objective into a time box and it becomes a swimlane of its own,
with a progress bar and an item count.

If you drop an objective somewhere that is not a time box, Shorter Loop tells
you what it expected:

Drop this into a time box — only objectives become swimlanes.

Children come along

Placing a parent brings its children with it:

Place an epic and its features are placed too.

Place an opportunity and its solutions come along.

This is usually what you want, and it is why the pool count sometimes drops by
more than one after a single drag.

Where can I drop?

A cell in the Independent items row	Planned in that box with no parent objective
Onto another card	Nested inside it, if the pair is valid (feature → epic, solution → opportunity)
A cell on a collapsed band	Expand the band first

Note: you cannot place work on a roadmap with no time boxes — there is
nowhere for it to go. The board says: “This roadmap has no time boxes, so
there’s nowhere to place work.”
