Overview#
Any connection between two nodes can be removed without deleting either node. Disconnecting a connection reparents or unlinks the child item based on the relationship type. How to disconnect#
1.
Hover over a connection path label (e.g., "drives", "enables", "validates") on the canvas.
2.
A small × icon appears on the label.
4.
A confirmation dialog appears showing the exact items being disconnected.
5.
Click Disconnect to confirm, or Cancel to abort.
The canvas reloads automatically after a successful disconnect. What happens on disconnect#
| Connection | Result |
|---|
| Objective → Opportunity | Opportunity becomes a root-level item with no parent |
| Opportunity → Solution | Solution is unlinked from the Opportunity |
| Solution → Experiment | Experiment is unlinked from the Solution |
| Cluster → Opportunity | Feedback-to-opportunity mapping is removed; Opportunity remains |
| Persona → Opportunity | Persona-to-opportunity link is cleared; Opportunity remains |
| Any → KPI / Metric | KPI's artifact link is cleared; KPI becomes unattached |
Key behaviors#
Non-destructive — no items are deleted. Only the connection is removed.
Confirmation required — a dialog shows the exact item names before proceeding.
Automatic refresh — the canvas reloads and re-layouts after a successful disconnect.
Hover-reveal — the × icon only appears on hover, keeping the map clean by default.
Zoom-aware — disconnect icons are hidden at overview and mini zoom levels.
Restrictions#
Scope root connections cannot be disconnected in scoped views.
Version and Backlog node connections do not show the disconnect option.
