How do I add a band (swimlane) to my roadmap?
A band is a horizontal group that holds objective lanes — usually a strategic
theme such as “Retention and expansion”.Steps#
1.
Click + Add swimlane at the bottom of the board.
3.
Optionally pick a Colour.
The band appears with an empty Independent items row and an + Add objective
button, ready for work.Bands versus lanes#
| Band | Objective lane |
|---|
| Represents | A theme or grouping | One objective |
| Created by | + Add swimlane | Dropping an objective into a time box, or + Add objective |
| Spans | The whole board width | One row |
| Deleting it | Removes the grouping | Takes the objective off the roadmap |
On an organization roadmap#
Bands are the org themes, and they are set at organization level rather than
per board — every org roadmap shows the same set. Adding a band there means
adding an org theme. See
How do I create org themes?A new product roadmap already has one#
A newly created roadmap arrives with a band called Swimlane 1. Rename it to
something meaningful rather than deleting it — double-click the name and type.
See How do I rename a band or lane?Deleting a band#
Use the band’s ⋯ → Delete. The band and its grouping go; the objectives
inside it are taken off the roadmap in the same way as removing them one by one,
and the items themselves are never deleted. Modified at 2026-09-12 07:22:06
